Nexus: “I think of myself as a global citizen.”
By Nexus
My name is Nexus Cook. I’m a 23-year-old Temple University graduate and I am currently pursuing an extremely random Masters of Liberal Arts degree with a focus on Creative Writing, which I completely LOVE! In a perfect world, I would have been a piano-playing archeologist, instead I’ll settle on being a lawyer, which is my next goal after obtaining my masters degree. I am painstakingly working my first “real world” job in Philadelphia all while trying to maintain some sort of personal life.
My life outside of work and school includes “exotic” foods (if the krispy kreme burger at PYT counts as exotic), sweaty gym sessions followed by more food and a lot of OPI nail polish. From a very young age I have always had a deep interest…or obsession… with the humanities ,whether it was art, music or history. This intrigue of the past and appreciation for all things beautiful has inspired and connected me to my real true love: Traveling.
I have gained a deep passion for travel because while seeing the world I am able to witness first hand all of the things that I have studied in books as well as experience new cultures, people and perspectives on the world. I think of myself as a global citizen. I know that there is a gorgeous and spectacular world that is bigger than me and bigger than our everyday lives and I constantly push myself to open my mind to attempt to fully understand the world around me. The excitement of learning new things from different cultures and different people is what motivates me to continue wandering around the world and soaking up the wonders I find along the way.

I have seen many amazing places on this planet in my short time on it and I hope that I continue to be fortunate enough to see many, many more. One of my greatest hopes in life is to maintain a lifestyle where I connect the things I love I to do with the things I have to do, and I think I’m slowly on my way to doing that. After all, connecting is what I do, its basically what my name means… kind of cool right?

Street harassment limits women’s mobility, access and ability to be in public spaces as often or as comfortably as most men. It is a form of gender violence and it’s a human rights violation. ----
